Crayons & Giggles

Jaxin dragged me to the closet first thing after breakfast this morning...that's where we keep the art supplies. I grabbed some colored pencils and paper and let him scribble away while I thought of something creative to do next. Then, I remembered an art project I had done as a child that I always liked. What's better than melting crayons between waxed paper? I always loved watching the colors swirl and run together. Granted, Jaxin is a bit young to do this project on his own, but he had fun sprinkling the crayon shavings onto the paper. He was giggling the whole time. My original plan was to make a dinosaur mobile, but we had already mixed lots of colors together and I thought dinosaurs would look better with just green and blue. So, we'll save that for another day. I opted for geometric shapes. They look really great when the sun shines through the window. Also, I learned how to take a picture where an object in the foreground is in focus, while the background is out of focus. Using this feature, the picture with the heart turned out the best. Perhaps we'll make shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day.

Swimming 101

Jaxin likes to "swim" in the bathtub now. I put him on his belly one night roughly a month ago, but he was scared. Then out of nowhere, he decided to try it on his own a few nights ago. He was so proud and just kept doing it over and over. Now he does it every time, and last night he figured out how to kick his feet and splash water all over mommy!

Happy Heart Day!

My Little Heartbreaker!

I made Jaxin heart-shaped pancakes.

He thought they were extra yummy!

Nana & Pop-pop brought over Jaxin's Valentine's card & this balloon, which he went crazy over. He loooooves playing with balloons.

Jason got me these flowers (even though I told him not to get me anything)...how sweet.

I bought flowers and made 2 arrangements; one for Nana and one for Aunt Mi-mi, from Jaxin. Not to boast too much, but I think they turned out beautiful! I let Jaxin paint picture frame mattes to match his vday picture, which we also gave to Nana & Pop-pop and Aunt Mi-mi (this idea I stole from my sister, as I received a framed picture of Piper for Christmas in which she had let Piper paint the matte). Nana also got a coffee mug that said I "heart" (an actual heart) my Nana...which she absolutely loved. I also made chocolate covered strawberries for everyone, and I sampled one and decided I must make some for myself...sooooo yummy! I didn't get a picture of Jaxin in his outfit yesterday, but he looked so cute! He had on his red & white striped long-sleeved button down shirt underneath a short-sleeve gray t-shirt that had a red heart with feet and arms stretched out...on the heart it read, "My Mom loves me this much", paired with his levi's and red socks. I wish I had gotten a picture, because he looked like a little stud-muffin! Hehe :) All in all, it was a good Valentine's Day. Hope yours was enjoyable!

All Things Bouncy

We went to Family Bounce Night at Bounce U last night. I've been wanting to take him for a long time now, but we can only go on Wed. nights, and something always seemed to come up. He was so excited the whole way there because for some reason, he thought we were going to Chuck E. Cheese....which he kept saying over and over. Once we were inside the bounce room, he looked around and then quickly grabbed Nana's hand. Then we coaxed him over to one of the "obstacle courses" and Jason got inside and I put Jaxin in and climbed in myself. He freaked out and started screaming and crying. Not so great...thought it was going to be a short trip. So we just let him run around on the floor and play with all the soccer balls and footballs for a while. I took him over to the huge slide and let him watch the other kids and he thought that was great. But when I tried to take him up there, he got scared again. Finally, he let Daddy take him up and they slid down several times together. I went a couple times with him, and he even went twice with a little girl that was there and they held hands the whole way down. It was so cute. :) He absolutely loved the slide and really enjoyed the boxing ring as well. He didn't want to leave, but he was definitely worn out! He slept very well last night! :) I'm hoping that Jason, Nana & Aunt Mimi can take him during the week to one of the "Pre-school Playdates" while I'm at work. And, I'm seriously thinking about having his birthday party there.
